Saphan Lek Bun Sung, a 200-meter bridge built from the remains of a mining ship, is a check-in point in Takua Pa District, Phang Nga Province. This bridge is significant in terms of the turning point of Takua Pa, from being a source of tin mining to its end. Saphan Lek Bun Sung was thus born.
Even though the steel from an old mining ship was used to build a bridge over the Takua Pa River that is over 200 meters long, I can assure you that the bridge structure is strong. While taking the picture, many motorcycles passed by because it is a normal route for people in that area. It is a route connecting Bamrungrat Road and Soi Khok Khanun.
At present, Saphan Lek Bun Sung has become a must-see tourist spot for tourists who come to view the Takua Pa River and take photos. It is also a popular check-in point in Takua Pa District.
In the past, workers of Boon Sung Mining Company from the Yan Yao community had to travel to work at the mining ship and the Khok Khanun Steel Mill by rowing boats from Yan Yao Pier along the Takua Pa River, which at that time was very deep. The company, led by Mr. Sunthorn Limsettho (Jek Sun), Mr. Nukul Limsettho, and Mr. Niwat Aphaitan (Pae Yin), discussed and decided to build a bridge in 1965 using pieces of Penang steel from the mining ship that could not be used.
