Wat Bamphen Chin Phrot, also known as Yong Hok Yi, is located in Soi Yaowarat 8, Samphanthawong District, Bangkok. It is an ancient Chinese temple of the Mahayana sect built since the early Rattanakosin period by Chinese people who migrated and settled in Siam. It used to be an abandoned Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva shrine. This temple has long been a spiritual center for Chinese people in Thailand.
The importance of Wat Bamphen Chin Phrot is not only as a place for religious ceremonies but also as a source for studying Chinese history and culture. Inside the temple, there is beautiful architecture in the traditional Chinese style, such as the Viharn, the entrance, the temple nameplate, the offerings from the reign of King Rama VI, and statues of various deities, all of which reflect exquisite craftsmanship and Buddhist stories. Inside the temple, there are also several Buddha images and Chinese deities, which are worshiped by both Thai-Chinese and general Buddhists. Visiting this temple is a great opportunity to experience the charm of ancient Chinese culture in the heart of Bangkok.
