Wat Phra Non Khlong Suan Phlu: 600 Years of Faith Heritage in the Ancient City, also known as Wat Khok Phra Non, is located in Khlong Suan Phlu Subdistrict, not far from Wat Yai Chaimongkol. It is presumed to have been built during the early to mid-Ayutthaya period, around the 20th Buddhist century, during the reign of King Naresuan the Great and King Ekathotsarot.
Although there is no evidence in the royal chronicles, it resembles the U Thong Buddha image, 3rd generation, and is believed to be important and continuously built over several eras. The Fine Arts Department renovated it in 2012.
This reclining Buddha is named Phra Phuttha Si Ayutthaya Pracha Phithak and is approximately 8-12 meters long. Some say it resembles Sukhothai art, especially the arms leaning away from the body. People often travel to pay respects and ask for blessings of luck and prosperity.
The reclining Buddha and the vihara were recently renovated in 2021 by Phra Thep Prasit Mont, the abbot of Wat Si Sudaram Worawihan, Bangkok, with proper permission from the Fine Arts Department.
