Wat Raeng, Ancient Site, Legend of Mae Yua Mueang sookjai Holiday, come to pay respects to Mae Yu Hua Sri Sudachan at the abandoned temple as well. Although there is no evidence of when Wat Raeng was built or who built it, the name Wat Raeng is inscribed in the Royal Chronicles of Ayutthaya due to important events related to the struggle for power in the land.
But I came at the wrong time because it was flooded.
Wat Raeng is famous and known to us (tourists, history moviegoers) because it is the place where the bodies of Khun Worawongsathirat and Thao Sri Sudachan, along with their royal daughters, were displayed by Khun Phirenthorathep, later Somdet Phra Maha Thammaracha, after the coup to reclaim the throne from Khun Worawongsathirat.
Wat Raeng is only a pile of bricks and scattered soil (plus it was flooded) because it was abandoned for a long time before being restored and registered as an ancient monument.
In addition to the traces of the ancient temple, there is also the Thao Sri Sudachan Shrine (Mae Yua) that villagers and devotees have built together to worship and commemorate the woman who played an important role in politics during the early Ayutthaya period.
