In the heart of Bangkok, in the Sathorn area, a new landmark of magnificent Chinese faith and culture has emerged: the Tai Hong Kong White Jade Shrine Commemorating His Majesty's 72nd Birthday. This new Chinese Buddhist sanctuary was created by the Poh Teck Tung Foundation as a memorial to the compassion of Luang Pu Tai Hong Kong and to honor His Majesty the King on the auspicious occasion of his 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on July 28, 2024, and also to mark the 110th anniversary of the Poh Teck Tung Foundation.

This shrine received the immense Royal graciousness of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen, who officially presided over its opening on May 20, 2026. It has been open for public worship and visits since May 25, 2026.

Highlights of Tai Hong Kong White Jade Shrine
The White Jade Luang Pu Tai Hong Statue: The centerpiece of the shrine is the replica statue of Luang Pu Tai Hong Kong, carved from pure white jade stone, making it one of the largest white jade statues in Thailand, weighing over 51 tons. People come to worship and pray for safety, peace, and auspiciousness. Additionally, there are other sacred deities such as Guan Yu, Guan Yin, Caishen, Year Gods, Mazu, and other Chinese deities.
Ancient Teochew Chinese Architecture: The shrine stands out with its design based on traditional Southern Chinese Teochew craftsmanship, renowned for its delicate details and intricate auspicious patterns. Every element reflects exquisite artistry, whether it's wood carving, murals, or other handicrafts, all faithfully preserving their Chinese origins.

Sculptural Murals Depicting Buddhist History (Mahayana): Beautifully colored stucco work narrates the history of Buddhism, scenes from Teochew province, and various auspicious images like Fu Lu Shou. Some images can be viewed at eye level, but many require looking up as they adorn the upper parts of the shrine building. Additionally, the exterior of the building features stucco reliefs depicting the life story of Luang Pu Tai Hong, such as his resignation to ordain, crossing a river with an umbrella, and building bridges across rivers.
Sacred Location: The shrine is situated on Charoen Rat Road, Sathorn District, Bangkok, on the historic land known as “Wat Don Cemetery,” which is over 120 years old and holds significant cultural and spiritual meaning for the Thai-Chinese community.
