Chao Phraya Sky Park, Phra Pok Klao Bridge, a prominent work of Bangkok in 2020, adapted from the "Lavalin" electric train project route that was not completed in 1979, passing through Phra Pok Klao Bridge to become a connecting path to the cultural streets on both sides of the Chao Phraya River, by renovating the original structure of the abandoned railway line that has not been used for more than 30 years.
The Department of City Planning and Development, Bangkok, in collaboration with the Expressway Authority of Thailand and the Urban Design and Development Center (UddC), jointly improved the traffic landscape on the structure of Phra Pok Klao Bridge to become a sky park with a walking path and bicycle path, with a total length of 280 meters and a width of 8.50 meters, along with the installation of elevators for the disabled and the elderly, focusing on ease of use and maintenance, selecting plant species that are suitable for Bangkok's climate, beneficial to insects and the overall ecosystem.
Prime Minister opens the Sky Park
General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister, presided over the opening ceremony of Chao Phraya Sky Park, which is the first sky park in Thailand, used for public recreation, as a traffic route and a bicycle path with a viewpoint in the middle of the Chao Phraya River, with a total length of 280 meters. The Prime Minister also said that the canals have potential in terms of tourism. If everyone helps each other, both in solving the problem of wastewater, not littering, and helping to make the canals beautiful, it will attract tourists, and ultimately the benefits will fall to the people and the community, which the government has a policy to develop canals to be beautiful and beneficial to the people.
