If you have the opportunity to visit Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province, a place that is like the crown of Thailand that you must visit is "Phra Maha Dhatu Naphamethanidon" and "Phra Maha Dhatu Naphapholphumisiri", the twin pagodas that stand majestically on kilometer 41.5 of Doi Inthanon amidst the cold atmosphere and the clouds that float past your face within reach.
History and auspicious names: 1. Phra Maha Dhatu Naphamethanidon: means "The pagoda is enshrined in the sky and is the strength of the land." Built by the Air Force in collaboration with the Thai people to offer as a royal charity to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) on the occasion of his 5th cycle birthday anniversary in 1987. The pagoda is purple-brown in color, outstanding with a modern tapering shape. 2. Phra Maha Dhatu Naphapholphumisiri: means "Is the strength of the sky and is the glory of the land." Built on the occasion of the 5th cycle birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother in 1992. The pagoda has a beautiful pinkish-purple color, in harmony with the first Great Holy Relic.
The area around the two Great Holy Relics is decorated with a variety of cold-climate flower gardens that bloom all year round. There are connecting bridges and escalators to facilitate tourists to walk and admire the wide scenery of the Doi Inthanon mountain range as far as the eye can see.
On this holiday, bringing your family to worship the twin pagodas will not only experience the fresh air and rare beauty, but also enhance the auspiciousness and show gratitude to both of them. It is a happiness that completes your Chiang Mai trip perfectly.
