Mong Du Ruea (the name of the restaurant is in Thai, don't think it's French). Delicious Ayutthaya this meal, Sookjai Holiday, takes you to eat delicious food by the Chao Phraya River. This strangely named restaurant is located on the same road as Ayutthaya Hospital, where a lot of Roti Sai Mai is sold. That is U Thong Road. Try searching from GPS, they pin the location directly, it's very easy to find the restaurant.
The reason why the restaurant is named Mong Du Ruea is as mentioned before. The restaurant is by the river. If you sit for a while, you will see boats floating by. But if you don't know what to look at, look at the waiters first. But you have to come alone. If your family comes with you, you may not be able to sit in a chair until the food arrives.
It's better to listen to live music. It may be served a little slow because there are a lot of customers, especially in the early evening.
The first dish is Kale Salad with Fresh Shrimp. Try tasting the dressing first as a tradition. Because tasting food from 10 restaurants, the taste of the dressing may not be the same. For here, the dressing is sweet and sour. The kale is crispy and crunchy, but it is cut into slices, not stems.
The second menu, when you come to the river city, you must eat fish. So I ordered Spicy Fish Soup with Fish. I recommend this bowl. It comes with a little spicy, sour and delicious taste. The mushrooms are chewy. Sipping the spicy soup is so enjoyable that you almost forget to eat the fish. For the fish, our hero, the meat is shiny, smooth, soft, and white.
The third menu is Fried Rice with Sun-dried Pork. The stir-fry is strange, the kale is sliced and there are also stir-fried green beans. It's delicious.
The fourth menu is Jungle Curry with Sheatfish. Some jungle curry restaurants in Ayutthaya are closed or have moved somewhere, I don't know. It may be an impact from Covid-19. Let's try Jungle Curry with Sheatfish at Mong Du Ruea. It's not spicy but it's hot and zesty. Chewing the thick, soft and delicious sheatfish fat. The quantity and price are not expensive at all.
The delicious meal takes place amidst the music for life that the singer is playing on stage. The atmosphere by the river is cool and breezy. If I had a bottle of Thai beer, it would be great. But it's too late. Both the Spicy Fish Soup with Fish and the Kale Salad with Fresh Shrimp are gone, along with a plate of delicious rice. I'm so full that I can't eat anymore.
I can only promise myself that I will have to come back many times to this Mong Du Ruea restaurant.
